Saints Row 4 trailer celebrates Independence Day (and ID4)

Given that Saints Row IV stars the President of the United States, a trailer celebrating Independence Day was inevitable. But oh, as it's also about an alien invasion, it's also riffing on that other Independence Day, with a stirring speech so powerful even I, a Queen-fearing lobsterback, shed a tear of pride for our little country all growed up.

Saints Row IV comes to PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on August 20, developed by Volition and published by Deep Silver. Pre-ordering gets you some of the patriotic wonders shown in the trailer: an Uncle Sam outfit, a jet with a bald eagle paintjob, and a gun which combines dubstep, flamethrower and rocket launcher under the name 'Merica.

Check the E3 walkthrough if you want actual gameplay, but watch on to love America:

Can never get used to default guy as a main character, so can't wait to have my zombie speaking gold plated president in this.

I loved Saints Row 3.. but all the trailers I've seen of Saints Row 4 don't look like a Saints Row game. It looks like a 3rd person linear story shooter. Where's the video clips of open world roaming?

Tis true! I've only seen one or two, guess I just missed the gameplay videos - I'll play it regardless, SR3 (and Genki Super Ethical Reality Climax "Murder Time Fun Time") was some of the most fun I'd had in a long time.

Saints Row story missions have always been linear. That kind of stuff is used in short trailers rather than open-world roaming clips because it's flashier and works in short bursts.

Someone should start a Kickstarter to bring back adventure games!

Game story looks like The Matrix, ID4, and Saint's Row 3 combined.
