Kongregate is moving beyond browser-based gaming and moving into the mobile realm.

Browser-based gaming site Kongregate is setting their sites on the mobile gaming space. Synapse Games' collectible card game, Tyrant: Unleashed, will be the first mobile title released under the Kongregate banner later in July. This will be followed by BloodRealm (RedPoint Labs, Making Fun), Sheep Happens (Lingplay), Endless Boss Fight (White Milk Games), and Cardinal Quest 2 (Randomnine Ltd.). All of the games will be free-to-play and offer in-app purchases.

"Our past experience is invaluable and allows us to generate recommendations based on detailed analysis of similar titles," said Kongregate's VP of Mobile Pany Haritatos, in an official press release. "Kongregate works with developers of all game genres from CCG to MMO and RPG titles. We have micro level insights into successful game mechanics that can make a huge difference in monetization and retention. Applying that level of expertise to a mobile launch is essential to launching a successful game."

Platforms have not yet been formally announced for any of these games, but individual trailers indicate that Sheep Happens and Endless Boss Fight will both come to iOS, while Cardinal Quest 2 is aiming for both iOS and Android. While BloodRealm has not announced a mobile platform, it is currently playable on Facebook.

Kongregate was purchased by retail giant GameStop back in 2010 and their site currently reaches 15 million unique visitors each month. Additional titles in the Kongregate mobile library will be revealed later this year.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
