D4, the noir adventure from Deadly Premonition creator Hidetaka 'Swery65' Suehiro, is exclusive to Xbox One. As part of that arrangement, it will be taking advantage of the new Kinect, and we've learned more details of just how it will work--or not work, if you choose not to play with it.
IGN reports that using the Kinect, you'll gesture on-screen and speak your conversation options. It is designed to be played sitting down, however, and if you want to forgo the Kinect entirely you can choose to play with the Xbox One controller instead. We don't know how well the Kinect commands work, since no one has gone hands-on, but the game itself is described as similar to a point-and-click adventure. That might make the actions less urgent to spare Kinect control problems with frantic gestures.
The game will be episodic, as previously reported, and each episode may take place inside a different memory. He activates them by touching some object that reminds him of his wife, and Suehiro was vague about whether he can actually save her by exploring his memories. "It's a bit complicated, but he actually understands that he can't change the past," he said. "I can't give you many details just yet, but I think that being in the past was meant to be that way."
