Epic Games' Tim Sweeney and Mark Rein will be the first international developers to join Develop magazine's game development Hall of Fame. The pair will receive the Development Legend Award when they are inducted on July 10 in Brighton, England.

"As this current generation of games consoles closes and as interactive content continues to spread across mobile, web and away from the TV, it is the right time to present our prestigious Legend honor to those who have helped define these changes," Michael French, editor-in-chief of Develop, said in a release. "The Unreal Engine has supported games of all sizes from around the world, from modern blockbusters to mobile innovations."

Sweeney and Rein co-founded Epic MegaGames in 1991. It changed its name in 1999 to Epic Games. Known for it's Unreal Engine, the studio has also developed such franchises as Unreal Tournament and Gears of War.

Past inductees into the Hall of Fame have been British-born game industry luminaries such as Peter Molyneux, Phil Harrison, and David Braben.
