TheRegister has a pretty good bit on Intel's CPU plans up to the 1st quarter of next year. They wanna get some of those 1.5GHz chips on the market.

    Reading that article, I'm happy to see that it appears the value market is not continuing to ramp up processor speed. This is good, IMO, because my grandmother doesn't need an 800 mhz processor to check her mail and use Word [despite her protests that a 450 was "way too slow"] - leave them for high-end users so there won't be as much of a shortage. Also, this will continue to bring the prices of systems down and hopefully more people will get online so I don't have to continue hearing about the "digital divide" which the evening news is always touting as the next racism.

    Or was I just hypocritical? Eh, screw it.
