Injustice 'General Zod' DLC coming July 2

A trailer for the General Zod DLC shows off his move sets and drops a release date of July 2.

As you may have heard (or entirely missed) during the hustle and bustle of E3, General Zod is the next downloadable character appearing in Injustice: Gods Among Us. A new trailer shows off his powers, and drops a release date of July 2.

He sports some moves similar to Superman, like heat vision, and a few unique ones like trapping his enemies in the Phantom Zone. Being a military figure, he also uses a gun as a standard move. His finisher, in which he smacks Superman so hard that he breaks straight through the moon, is appropriately ridiculous. Best of all, he delivers all that with a smirking disposition.

When Zod hits, he'll wrap up the first set of downloadable content for season pass holders. NetherRealm creative director Ed Boon has been strongly hinting at another set of DLC characters to come based on fan requests, with a poll showing Red Hood and Zatanna in a close race for first. Martian Manhunter isn't on the poll, but he seems like a sure bet after appearing in the Scorpion trailer.

More Batman characters are needed we need more because there is not enough of them in the game!!

And is it me or is Zod the lamest design to come out of Injustice?

INJUSTICE FOR THE GREEN MAN! No Martian, No Peace.
Until J'onn J'onzz moves from the background of that one stage to being a playable fighter, I'm boycotting!
6 out of 7 original JSA members playable at release. 5(?) DLC later, they still keepin' the green man down.
Oh, sure, you got players DRESSED in green, or using green attacks, but an actual GREEN MAN?! Naw, that's too REAL for y'all out there.

Even in Marvel, they play Red or Blue Hulk more than Green.

Hah, I too noticed poor Martian Manhunter just sort of hanging around in the background of the Watchtower. He deserved better.

I still haven't forgiven the Avengers for replacing ACTUAL original members Hank and Janet Pym with literal ENEMIES OF THE AVENGERS Hawkeye and Black Widow. (also, it could've been an Ultron movie then, and not that techno-dimensional-space-robot-demon Loki-plot amalgam)

And still, this total disrespecting of Martian Manhunter is WORSE.
This is worse than them having no Adam Warlock in a Thanos Mega-Arc. OK. I take that back.

Comic Geek Netherrealm Worker: Hey lets put in Martian Manhunter he's a founding JLA member unlike Cyborg.

Ed Boon: Martian Manhunter? Sounds lame.

CGNW: WHAT? He's cool you know like he's Super strong, can fly, has psychic powers, can transform, and can phase shift through objects. Cool right?

EB: Not as cool as hellfire ninja with a chain in his arm!

CGNW: Awwwww Not Scorpion boss this a DC fighting game, he doesn't belong!

EB: But Jim Lee is going to redesign him so he looks like he belongs in a comic book like he should be because he's Scorpion and he's the best thing in Mortal Kombat! He'll blend in perfectly with the DC cast and not reflect Mortal Kombat in any way!

CGNW: Thats not what Tobias said! And he's Scorpion he sticks out like a sore thumb.

EB: NEVER SAY THAT NAME AGAIN! Your fired.

Speaking of Cyborg, I love the number of original voice actors they got for the characters (such as Cyborg being the same voice actor from Teen Titans, or Superman being George Newbern, Kevin Conroy for Batman, Susan Eisenberg as Wonder Woman, etc).

I don't think the game would have done as well with out them honestly. Having actors who people are familiar with and can bring a character to life is always a plus. Now only if Mark Hamil didn't retire from Joker....
