Surprise! Assassin's Creed 4 has DLC. Ubisoft has somehow mastered the art of not only releasing new games in the AC franchise every year, but making a "Season's Pass" worth of DLC every year as well.

As with Assassin's Creed 3, post-release content for Black Flag includes a mix of single and multiplayer content. While The Tyranny of King Washington let players take Connor through an alternate universe tale, it appears AC4's single-player DLC will take a slightly different route.

All Games Beta discovered this early pre-order on Best Buy:

It is 1715. Pirates rule the Caribbean, terrorizing navies and humiliating empires. From sinking warships to conquering fortresses, Captain Edward Kenway stopped at nothing to earn his fortune and legend. Yet, the adventures of his first mate, Adewale, have never been revealed. Until now. Pre-order Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag Season Pass now for the chance to play as Adewale, a new assassin who will take you even deeper into the real explosive events of the Golden Age of Pirates.

It appears that AC4 will feature an entirely different playable character: Adewale, the first mate for AC4 hero Edward Kenway. Stepping into the shoes of an entirely new character is rather unusual for the AC franchise, but with the story no longer bound by Desmond, it appears that Ubisoft is more willing to let players try something new.

According to the retailer, the Season Pass will be available for $20--20 percent off the regular non-bundled price.
