A new video gives a lengthy look at the Battlefield 4 spectator mode.

DICE has talked about Battlefield 4's new spectator mode, but we haven't really seen it in action. Fortunately, a lengthy new video shows your viewing options in quite a bit of detail.

The official video (below) is pre-alpha, but already has a lot of the pieces in place. You can make the perspective third-person with full camera controls, and a player card details everything from weapon type to loadouts and weapon add-ons. Plus, it doubles as one of the longest looks we've gotten of the game in action, so check it out.

15 minutes and they don't even say if it's live spectating only or if they'll be recorded for playback later as well.

They've been dodging the battle recorder question for a while now, likely because its low priority. Which is too bad, because it would be a great feature. Most of us don't want to record fullscreen movies every time we play. Demos that we could replay and record later through some sort of spectator feature would be pretty cool to capture the hilarious highlight moments from your games.
