NVidia Strong Arm Response

Kyle over at HardOCP really managed to stir the poop yesterday with his article on NVidia PR tactics. In fact there are reactions (and similar stories) all over. You can read stuff at Hypothermia, BrokenPixel, InsaneHardware, and NVNews. . Mike James sent along this official response NVidia is handing out to people who email them:

Thank you for taking the time to contact NVIDIA and giving us the opportunity to respond to your concerns. As you can imagine, we have received many emails regarding RIVA3D (www.riva3d.com) and other negative posts that have been posted over the last couple of days. Unfortunatley, there were a couple of miscommunications and mishaps which have led to these negative posts. Please allow me to assure you that NVIDIA does not have a policy of strong arming any member of the media.  It is not unusual for large companies to be attacked on the Web, and it is our policy not to publicly respond in most instances, but on behalf of NVIDIA, I would like to say that we do appreciate your patronage and we do not attempt to dictate what is or is not covered online.  Thanks for your time and your understanding, and please feel free to email me if you have any additional questions or concerns. Cheers, Derek
Also since so many people requested it, here was my little spat with NVidia a year or so ago over their misleading unknowing consumers. Do I think NVidia is guilty? Hmmm Probably a bit. Certainly wouldnt be anything new in the industry.

  • yeah BiffyC, those ads were so damn funny, and its even funnier to go talk to some people you know , and they mention they want to go buy a new computer. You ask them why , and they say they want a PIII because it will make their internet faster, right? Im like , are u on 56k? cuz if u are thats your problem, not the speed of the PC. but sooo many people just dont understand how it works. It goes the other way too, like i installed DSL on my step-moms PC the other day, and it is a P1 166, and so the DSL is on she loading up AOL (heh) and it takes for ever to start and she is all "hmmm dones seem to be much faster" but its just that she is on a p166 and it takes a while for the program to load up, the DSL has nothing to do with how fast the application loads, duh. but average idiots just dont know
