Thief coming to Xbox 360 and PS3, launching with next-gen versions

Thief has been touted as a next-gen game ever since its debut. However, like many upcoming games, Eidos Montreal has revealed that their upcoming reboot will be a cross-generational title.

"Yep, it's official! Thief is now confirmed for PS3 and Xbox 360," the official blog said. "And, as importantly, the game will ship for ALL platforms simultaneously."

Given that the game uses Unreal Engine 3, the revelation isn't particularly surprising.

Eidos Montreal will also be developing the current gen versions of the game. "It was really, really important for us before we announced this that the core mechanic--the fun factor... we will not touch that," said senior producer Stephan Roy. We got more on how those gameplay mechanics are being handled for the game in general at E3.
