After an early leak of Game Informer spoiled the surprised, Titanfall was confirmed today by Electronic Arts and shown at Microsoft's press conference. The game, coming from former Call of Duty devs at Respawn Entertainment, will be coming to Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC in 2014.

From the press release:

The universe of Titanfall juxtaposes small vs. giant, natural vs. industrial and man vs. machine. The game drops players into a conflict between the Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation (IMC) and the Militia as elite Pilots. With the ability to shift back and forth between pilot and Titan, players will have the freedom to change tactics on the fly, attacking or escaping depending on the situation.

"In addition to infusing the multiplayer experience with cinematic flavor, we've been rethinking fundamental combat and movement in the genre," said Titanfall game director Steve Fukuda. "Titanfall is unique in the way that it places equal emphasis on two drastically different and new ways to move and fight in a first-person shooter. The intersection of the two is a big part of what give Titanfall its iconic identity."

As mentioned previously, the Xbox 360 version is being developed by an external developer with help from Respawn.

I don't know about this one.Looks like it could be cool, but on the other hand,it looks to derivative of too many other games.Looks like a mashup of COD,Mech Warrior, and Tribes.

The mashup you're describing sounds exactly like the kind of game I want to play.

vince Zampalla came on stage.. pretty much said "we are the original mofos who defined MP past gen, and we STILL own it" drop the mic

This looked really really good... both the small scale/sharpness of COD, and scale of Halo/BF, with awesome Vanquish traversal
There was way too many "oh wow" moments for an MP focused game

Did he really say that? CoD4 basically added perks and persistence to team deathmatch (sometimes objective-based), in a modern military setting, during a time when the 360 had only Halo 3 (which was also a 2007 game), the PS3 had almost nothing, and the PC had a very very aging Counter-Strike Source. It was a "right place, right time" kind of game.

As for this, it could easily get Brink'd. They're putting their best foot forward at E3, keeping the curtain over the rough parts. If the cinematic QTE-ness or cloud infrastructure problems get in the way, it's going to have a rocky post-release reception.
