Start saving your pennies, as Microsoft has announced that its shiny new Xbox One will cost $499 when it launches this November. Reserving the console in advance at certain retailers will "guarantee" you get a "limited-edition commemorative bundle" on launch day. Reserving certain launch games gets you extra stuff too.

The Day One bundle comes in black packaging with a "limited edition" Day One controller. Yes, it's just a fancy box and a controller with the words "DAY ONE 2013" on it, but it's special.

Xbox One will cost $499 in the USA, £429 in the UK, and €499 in Europe. That's packing a 500GB hard drive and one controller, along with a 14-day Xbox Live Gold trial for new members.

It'll launch across 21 "markets", though exactly which ones and on what day are secrets for now.

Game reservation bonuses! Ryse offers an exclusive multiplayer map and sword, Forza 5 has "access to four cars tuned to the top of their class," Dead Rising 3 gives Frank West and Chuck Greene "Tribute Packs", and Kinect Sports Rivals has exclusive sporting gear. It's fluff, certainly, but pleasant enough I suppose if you'll be reserving any of them to pick up at launch anyway.

So, when will the PlayStation 4 launch and for how much?

Uhm I think it includes the stuff... in the picture.. which is usually what every console launches with... a console and a controller... and the black kinect thing... and cables... more details about a free game will be coming but Im going to guess thats still being worked out

Does the £429 include the 20% VAT?

If it does technically it's £343, which is $532 dollars. Still more just not as much.

If that's the final price than it's right on par with the US. $499 is pre tax in the US with an average sales tax of around 7%.

Incorrect. You did £429*0.8, which only tells you what 20% off £429 is. You should be doing 429/1.2 = £357.50.

          To clarify, the tax is on /top/, so £357.50+20% tax = 1.2*£357.50 = £429.

Am I the only one getting sick and tired of American companies screwing the rest of the world on pricing? $499 = €499 is 25% markup for no reason whatsoever, other than subsidising the American market.

When you talk about $60 games, we pay €60 for the same games. It's just sick!

Yep, should be 377 euro instead of 499, but well, nobody is forcing anybody to buy it. If it sells in Europe then it proves the price is on proper level.

We got lucky in Australia. To give you perspective the PS3 was $599US at launch but $999 in Australia. We're used to paying almost double despite our dollar being comparable to the US dollar. So naturally I expected to pay around $800 for the Xbone. But it's only $599 in Aus, just a hundred bucks more than the US. I'm stoked.

Tax is not enough to cover the difference in pricing. Electronic stuff is just super cheap in US.

Lots of stuff is super cheap in the US. I save about 40% by ordering coconut oil with trans-Atlantic shipping instead of picking it up at a Swedish store.

Lots of stuff is cheaper in the U.S. Clothes are a biggie. We're just a big market, and when you factor in big retailers like Wal-Mart that drive down market prices by importing a ton of cheap shit from China, then yeah we're gonna pay less for a lot of things than Europe/Canada/Australia.

Blame your VAT which is what, 20-25%? That means Microsoft themselves are charging about 400-420 euros; still more, but not as lopsided as it seems.

Well, this leaves the door wide open for Sony to undercut them and bury the Xbox for good.

All they have to do is say,PS4,$449,and if they are bold enough say,$399.If they go $399,Xbox is done before it even gets off the ground.

I don't think this is going to happen. With all the crap surrounding the Xbone I bet MS is making a mint off of all the deals with 2nd parties allowing them to sell the box at a big loss. I don't think PS4 will be able to do that. I'd bet the PS4 is $600 at the least. Who knows though.

Yeah, once the One is out they wont have a big enough catalogue to provide included games with for a while. It'd be neat if they ported Xbox 1 games over though (seeing as that's much easier to do than 360 games).

Well as much as I would like an Xbox One, the price tag of 650$ isn't a possibility... I mean 499$ for the Console PLUS the console REQUIRES but does not come with a Kinect 2 which costs 110$ roughly so thats a grand total of...
      499+
      110=609 + Tax (in California its 8% so thats)=
      659 $$$$$

While the PS4 (has pretty much all the same games, because developers do that now.)
      399+
      59+
      +8% Tax=
      494 $$$ for a PS4 659 for an Xbox one...

which console do you think will sell more consoles this year? certainly not the 659$ one.. you may as well buy an I7 computer with 16gb of ram and 1TB harddrive... hell most internal video cards can play most games now.. add in card for like 150$ will net you 60-120FPS with medium to high settings...
