In one of the stealthiest launches in some time, Aspyr Media has released a port of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic today for iPad. The original BioWare game came out on the Xbox almost 10 years ago in July 2003.

The new app lets you learn more than 40 Force powers, travel to Tatooine and the Wookiee homeworld, customize characters, and travel between planets in your ship, the Ebon Hawk. Yep, everything you could do in the original game. As a bit of a refresher, the game takes place about 4,000 years before the creation of the Republic and involves the hunt for Sith masters Darth Malak and Darth Revan.

The game is available on the App Store for $9.99 only for the iPad.

I hope this is more attuned to touch controls than Baldurs Gate EE was.

The greatest challenge in that game was not the demon that awaits you atop Durlag's Tower. It was managing to click on a stationary villager and hoping your finger hits the pinpoint context area.

I did. It's not bad. Better than I imagined. Load times are 1000% faster than they were on Xbox. Heh

Camera controls are merely swipe left to right. It works well. If you recall, the game will pause when an enemy is encountered. Allowing u to target them and select an action before the game resumes. It all works pretty well. The only thing that's really missing is the ability to cycle targets by pressing the trigger buttons. iPad obviously has no buttons. It's a feature ill miss cuz you could just hit right trigger in a room to make sure you weren't missing any lock boxes or corpses to loot. Now you have to kinda swipe and scan.
