As is standard for big-budget AAA games, The Last of Us will have DLC. It will also have a Season Pass, so that you can pre-order DLC at a discount. And as with any game that includes a multiplayer component, post-release content will expand the game's competitive modes. However, Naughty Dog has announced that it also has plans on releasing single-player DLC after launch--a first for the studio.

There will be three pieces of DLC after the game launches: two multiplayer, one single-player. "The journey and cast of characters in The Last of Us lends itself to thorough narrative exploration and we've got more of the story to tell," Naughty Dog says in the announcement.

The Season Pass will be available for $19.99, which is apparently a 30% savings over getting the content individually. Pre-ordering the Season Pass will also net you "Day 1 bonuses," which include increased crafting speed, increased healing speed, 9mm reload speed upgrade, and a rifle clip capacity upgrade. (You can read more about crafting in our guide.) Perhaps the most significant bonus is Grounded, an exclusive 90 minute "making of" documentary on the game.

Given how much of the Season Pass is comprised of multiplayer content, fans shouldn't rush to pre-order. Details on the game's online mode have been elusive, but Naughty Dog promises that "you'll be hearing about our multiplayer over the next couple of days." Perhaps you should wait until then before biting?

I think Ill wait on the season pass until I know what the DLC will be cause I HATE MP and I hate it most in SP experiences.

I'm trying to keep a open mind about this. I have never really got into the Uncharted's MP. If its run and gun at all then it will be a fail in my book.

Groan, good news - way to shit up your SP games. Well, I'll check out the GOTY in 2014, got a big backlog as it is.

That's not really true. You can do a self-contained story and still have interesting things to explore in short DLC missions/levels.

You can but sometimes they do it right, sometimes they don't. SP gamers want a good, solid, single and all encompassing experience. We don't want some fucking bullshit after the fact DLC pack, we just want our story, like a novel or movie.

          I don't want a missing chapter 3 months later.

I haven't seen too much in the way of SP DLC that was problematic in this way, except maybe shit like the Castlevania Lords of Shadow thing, or Asura's Wrath.

Usually, it seems like SP stuff is just more content (in the case of games like Skyrim, Fallout, etc) that wasn't related to the main story, or side stories/new shit like Blood Dragon or Minerva's Den.

Bioshock Infinite did this well. I would consider that story complete, yet if they have DLC about some side characters i'd be all over it.

I'm saddened to see that Naughty Dog had to cave in to industry pressure to include multiplayer. That's not to say it won't be good, but I doubt I'll be checking out that portion of the game...I have too many other options. My opinion might change if there's co-op campaign content..
