Insomniac head hints at 'new Fuse experiences' (that's not DLC)

Insomniac head Ted Price says Fuse is "just getting started" and that the studio is already prototyping for "new Fuse experiences" that are not DLC.

Fuse is out today, but Insomniac seems intent on making it a full-blown franchise. CEO Ted Price wrote today about the history of its development after its transition from Overstrike, and said that the series is "just getting started."

In a lengthy essay, Price used the game's Shattergun as an example of why the game went into a darker direction. He says he knows some people won't be convinced by the switch, but others will try Fuse and love it. For those who appreciate the game, he noted, there's more to come.

"We've already begun expanding what we've begun with Fuse," Price wrote. "Right now as I write this we're taking the core concepts behind Fuse and prototyping new stuff... stuff that leverages this bizarre alien substance which is at the heart of the game. No, I'm not talking about DLC. I'm talking about new Fuse experiences altogether. What's wonderful about creating and owning one's IP is that you can take it any direction you want."

That certainly sounds like a direct sequel, but we'll have to wait for more details. Our review concluded that this first entry was fine, but lacked some of Insomniac's personality. Hopefully the studio will continue to iterate on the foundation already built.

You may want to bank your money on a different franchise, dude...

I'm really looking forward to a new fuse experiences as long as they don't play or resemble anything like fuse. Maybe they invested too much but i really think they should walk away from fuse. This maybe their baby but it's a ugly simi-retarded one that probably isn't worth saving.

Ted, I would suggest to halt the factory for a few days and see how those Fuse sales shake out first.

I tried the demo and forgot I even played it. My son reminded me. Better wait Ted cause you may be working on another Ratchet and Clank for cash.
