Super Stardust dev making 'spiritual successor' for PS4
by Alice O'Connor, May 23, 2013 12:30pm PDTSure, the PlayStation 4 will let you shoot futuremen and pirates and hoops, but what about rocks, huh? What about rocks? Calm down, mineral maniacs! Super Stardust HD [pictured above] dev Housemarque has released games in the arcade rock-blaster series for the last three Sony systems and it has PS4 plans too. It's working on a "spiritual successor" to the series which surely will be based around rocks, right?
"The platform's performances are enabling us to do things that wouldn't be possible otherwise and we truly believe that better technology can lead to better gameplay. The more tools and resources we have at our disposal, the better," Housemarque CEO Ilari Kuittinen said in today's announcement.
"Think of Super Stardust HD: at the time, PlayStation 3 gave us the opportunity to populate the game with thousands of interactive objects and implement the game's famous 'spherical gameplay'. Today, we can take advantage of the architecture of PlayStation 4 to create incredible visuals with direct impact on the way the new game feels."
Just think about how rocks could be on PS4! Whatever the game ends up as, it'll be exclusive to PS4. Housemarque is also working on another unannounced PS4 project. No, that's not an announcement--that's merely confirmation.
