Xbox One increases friends lists to 1,000

if you were one of the ones upset that the Xbox 360 capped friends lists at 100, then you should be relieved to know that the Xbox One will increase that number to 1,000, with players able to use gamertags or real names on their Xbox Live account.

if you were one of the ones upset that the Xbox 360 capped friends lists at 100, then you should be relieved to know that the Xbox One will increase that number to 1,000. Players will also be able to let friends see their real names as well as gamertags if they choose.

Various tweets from Xbox Live Support confirmed the number. "You'll be able to have many, many more friends [on Xbox One]--we won't have those types of limits, and you'll see us pulling friends from across other social experiences," Microsoft's chief product officer Marc Whitten told Polygon. He said the "social experience" of the new console could eventually allow friends to be pulled from Facebook.

Whitten also mentioned that players will be able to choose which of these friends can see their real name and which will only know you through your gamertag.

1000 is a lot. Steam caps at 250, I think? Or 500? AND WHAT OF GROUPS.

It stops being a lot for some people (not me) if they automatically drag Facebook friends in, though.

Maybe, but I'd expect that to be the fringe. Also, overlapping people, maybe?

Could be, don't know. I'd like to think that there wouldn't be too many, but I bet there'll be some.

I've never understood why they had these hard limits. It's about the easiest thing in the world to store.

My guess would be that they're trying to limit the number of fake accounts who try to friend and mass-spam everyone

To be fair moshie, there are still single player gamers out there. We just want compelling SP experiences at the end of the day. I don't care about sharing, friends lists, achievements, trophies, badges, avatars or any of that shit.

You probably know this and just replied to him for comedy effect but it's worth noting, some of us simply want SP stuff, offline but good games :/

Xbox one sucks. I go for PS4.

That seems a tad premature. I'm leaning towards PS4, but I want both... even though I'm not wealthy, and that would be a strain financially. I'm curious to know why you.... Oh... duh, I just figured it out... you're trolling!

Thank fuck. I love my gamer friends, but sometimes I see people get online and I go “Who the fuck are you? I mean, I know that I know you, but I don't know who the fuck you are”
