Xbox One increases friends lists to 1,000
by John Keefer, May 21, 2013 3:45pm PDTif you were one of the ones upset that the Xbox 360 capped friends lists at 100, then you should be relieved to know that the Xbox One will increase that number to 1,000. Players will also be able to let friends see their real names as well as gamertags if they choose.
Various tweets from Xbox Live Support confirmed the number. "You'll be able to have many, many more friends [on Xbox One]--we won't have those types of limits, and you'll see us pulling friends from across other social experiences," Microsoft's chief product officer Marc Whitten told Polygon. He said the "social experience" of the new console could eventually allow friends to be pulled from Facebook.
Whitten also mentioned that players will be able to choose which of these friends can see their real name and which will only know you through your gamertag.
