Simpsons, King of the Hill writer joins Angry Birds film
by Steve Watts, May 22, 2013 4:30pm PDTThe Angry Birds movie has tapped some talent from well-known cartoons, just as it set a date to hit theaters. Jon Vitti, a writer for The Simpsons and King of the Hill, has been tapped to write the screenplay for the animated feature. The movie is scheduled to release on July 1, 2016.
Vitti's other writing credits include The Office, The Simpsons Movie, and The Larry Sanders Show. That credits list includes some witty writing, so we can hope that sharpness will be applied to the Angry Birds. Then again, he also wrote Alvin and the Chipmunks.
Variety reports that producer Catherine Winder, who has experience from a wide variety of animated TV cartoons, has joined up as well. She'll be producing along with John Cohen (Despicable Me) and executive producer David Maisel (Iron Man).
