EA spokesperson Jeff Brown confirmed to Kotaku that "we have no games in development for the Wii U currently."

The confirmation isn't entirely shocking, after EA announced that it had no plans to bring Madden NFL 25 to Nintendo's latest home console. However, the company said at the time that their relationship with Nintendo was "strong."

One reason for EA's absence on Nintendo's console could be the lack of Frostbite on the platform. With so many of EA's forthcoming titles using DICE's Battlefield engine, these games are unlikely to appear on Wii U.

Still, given EA's propensity for multi-platform releases, their lack of confidence in Wii U is quite remarkable. Third-parties haven't necessarily flocked to the platform, with the key exception of Ubisoft. It seems Nintendo is going to have to increase its outreach quite significantly if it wants to draw in more third-party support.
