Looks like the official reveal of Gran Turismo 6 is set to happen next week. On May 15th, Sony plans on "celebrating 15 years of Gran Turismo" at the Silverstone Circuit. "At the event, Kazunori Yamauchi will also be making some exciting announcements about the future of the brand," the PlayStation.Blog teases. Developer Polyphony Digital has made no secret its plans to make GT6. However, the big question has been: what platform will it launch on? Leaked retail listings have pinned it as a PS3 game, not a PS4 game. The video released by Sony today seems to suggest as much, as well. Notice, for example, the car that drives past the other vehicles labeled with previous GT games:

This PS3-emblazoned car races past representations of older GT games

The video also ends with a PS3 system splash. However, the generic "Only on PlayStation" banner gives hope for some that perhaps this will be a dual-platform launch: on both PS3 and PS4.

Hey wiseguy, they didn't say what platform. Could easily be PS5.

Riffing aside, one of the best things they did for detail on the GT5 premium cars was insist that they have an example of the car in the studio. That way, they can get the instrument clusters almost perfect (unlike Turn 10, who wings it on some of the LCD screens).

Sound; yeah, they need to do some more work on synthesis, but I love how the direct samples mean that the Lexus LFA sounds like a real Lexus LFA, and not like a Lamborghini Gallardo, and that the BMW E60 M5 sounds like an E60 M5, and not a Lamborghini Gallardo. Turn 10's theory of "Engines are all basically trumpets!" is a bit shortsighted, and makes some of the cars sound a little goofy.

That said, GT6 needs to be able to load faster. That was one of GT5's cardinal sins, especially considering that GT5 Prologue, the prequel game with almost the exact same car and track graphical assets and the exact same engine, loaded cars much faster, on the exact same hardware.

Also, a good licensed music soundtrack library was part of why GT5 had a huge leg up over Forza 4's "stock footage" library of 7 songs. Hopefully Polyphony will leave dubstep out of GT6.

Music is the last thing I care about in a racing game.

The GT5 load times are so bad, the game is effectively unplayable.

Except for the part where if it wasn't a premium car the assets it used were horrible looking.

Yeah but 10x better sound and 80% faster load times kinda made up for it.

If we're playing give-and-take, then yeah... I'm going to have to go with that. But it was still kinda bullshit that they weren't there.

It's like you enjoy being wrong on the engine sounds in GT vs. Forza. I don't get it. I really don't.

Half of which you're not allowed to race but just ogle in the photo editor. I'm still bitter about the Catterham fireblade not being raceable in gt4

Would it be threadshitting or informative if I simply said "no one cares"?
