Magrunner debut trailer reveals sci-fi Lovecraftian puzzling

After months of screenshots, publisher Focus Home today released the first trailer, showing some of the brain-teasers and brain-eaters we'll face.

Magrunner: Dark Pulse's concept is interesting--a first-person person in a Portal-ish sci-fi setting which careens in the Cthulhu mythos--but we hadn't seen much of the game until now. After months of screenshots, publisher Focus Home today released the first trailer, showing some of the brain-teasers and brain-eaters we'll face.

There we are, happily puzzling our way through test chambers, using a magno-science-zap-glove to attract or repel objects, when things go a bit pear-shaped. Still, in a way it's convenient that Great Old Ones turn up: we wanted to pass the trial so we could go explore space, and now ancient space beings are coming round to visit us. Perhaps we should tidy up a bit first.

Developer 3AM Games was founded by members of Frogwares, a studio which dabbled in Lovecraft in its adventure game Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened. As is all the rage nowadays, it was helped out by crowdfunding, offering backers beta access.

Magrunner: Dark Pulse is due a downloadable release on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 before the end of June. Here, have a gander at the first trailer:
