Disney Infinity is including standard mission types alongside a more open-ended Toy Box mode. The Toy Box was pioneered in Toy Story 3, and Disney Interactive and Pixar naturally figured it would be a fit for Infinity as well. A new trailer shows the progression of the mode.

The video shows the prototypes, and features input from both Pixar and Avalanche about how the mode evolved between the games. It's an inside look at how a feature gets implemented and iterated upon, and it was one of Toy Story 3's best features. Disney Infinity is due in August.
