Grand Theft Auto 5 trailers show good, bad, and ugly

Those trailers that Rockstar has been teasing since last week for Grand Theft Auto 5 have finally been released, and as promised, they show off main protagonists Trevor, Michael and Franklin wandering around Los Santos.

Grand Theft Auto 5 doesn't really need a lot of hype to get fans excited about the game, but Rockstar has decided to release not one, but three new trailers today. Main protagonists Trevor, Michael and Franklin each get their own videos showing them conducting business in their own way in Los Santos.

We've already seen a lot of the faux Los Angeles through two previous trailers and a multitude of screenshots, but these show a bit more of what the characters' motivations are in the game and what they want. Of course, Michael admits "I'm rich. I'm miserable. I'm pretty average for this town."

The game will be released September 17 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, although PC and Wii U versions are not totally out of the question. You'll be able to choose whether you want to play good or bad, so watch the trailers. They may help with your decision.

Yeah, I'm most excited for Trevor's storyline. It's nothing Rockstar's done yet, and I really want to play me some trailer trash

seems like a good conduit to channel the crazy stuff that was missing from GTA4

They've done it somewhat in Angel Pine/San Andreas. Not a whole lot though.
GTAV is really shaping up to have a San Andreas feel, especially with the whole Franklin story.

Did they change the voice actors? I remember Tony Sopro...I mean Michael being older and the voice being deeper. Also Franklin was thinner, no?
Besides all that, this game doesn't look all that fun. I think I'll wait until the hype dies down and some real reviews come out after the game drops. Maybe 8 months after.

A little but of everything. I enjoyed and finished all the previous GTA game up until 4. I found it very boring and bland, I never even unlocked the last part of the map before I stopped playing it. Plus I was already burned by this game because I had originally pre-ordered it for PC and it was complete fucking garbage, returned it and got the PS3 version later (used when it was dirt cheap) and still didn't like it.

The scope and detail and quality of that world is huge. Absolutely undeniable. Voice acting and sound design were incredible.

Even if you're one of those people that misses the zany GTA games, you have to admit how top notch every aspect of what went into GTA4 was.

I think the gameplay was awesome but the plot / storyline was definitely bland. it was a more realistic story than the other GTAs though and that might have made it worse

IV was the first one I actually finished. I thought it was excellent. Yeah, it drags a little bit in the middle, but the city and the characters they built.... are simply amazing I think.

I got it on Steam and I swear it's one of the games I just stopped playing because it was so annoying to get to the actual fucking game. Always made me think twice before clicking it until I just stopped doing it.

The character stuff sometimes looks great and sometimes doesn't. Their bodies look to solid, like they're built out of wood. Some of the faces look fantastic though, strangely enough the best rendered ones arn't the main characters.

A lot of the people still have that Rockstar stiffness, plasticine skinned, dead-eyed look to them.

It makes watching the cutscenes they love to do so difficult. All the flaws stick out in a bad way. The main characters at least seem a little better this time around.
