Quantic Dream's follow-up to Heavy Rain made quite an impressive showing at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. A new half-hour demo of Beyond: Two Souls showcased the impressive visuals of the PS3 adventure, while giving a sneak peek at Beyond's gameplay. A few dialog choices were spotted, and a new melee combat mechanic was shown off.

In the demo, Jodie (Ellen Paige) is living on the streets and encounters a group of other homeless. She must make some money to get food, and eventually assist in the birth of a child. The demo ends with a dramatic escape from a burning building and, of course, a cliffhanger.

While Sony has yet to release the lengthy presentation online, they did share the new trailer for public consumption. Watch out for horses.

Beyond will be available on PS3 this October. For more, read our latest preview.

"and a new melee combat mechanic was shown off."

So Quantic Dream is exploring with gameplay outside of just QTE's, again? Oh how I miss their ventures into strange territory. Is it too soon to hope for a return to the world of Omikron?

I wonder if they kept in the mention of "exclusive Gamestop DLC" in the Tribeca presentation. If they did, I'm even more curious if anyone in the audience understood that that meant, or was offended, like the trailer was "selling them something".

I mean...seriously...exclusive scene DLC? It just seems odd, pushing store-exclusive DLC at a film event...how would you feel about going to see a movie and finding out you didn't see the whole film because you went to an AMC instead of a Cineplex theatre?

Good point! They did not include mention of the GameStop offer in the Tribeca showing.
