Lord of the Rings Online: Helm's Deep expansion announced
by Alice O'Connor, Apr 24, 2013 9:45am PDTI did like that bit in the Lord of the Rings movies when they finally stopped walking about and had a big fight. The Battle of the Hornburg will finally come to The Lord of the Rings Online as "the most massive conflict yet" with the 'Helm's Deep' expansion, announced today by publisher Warner Bros. It's due to hit the free-to-play MMORPG this fall.
The expansion will let you roam the plains of western Rohan, including the capital Edoras, Dunharrow, and, the Hornburg fortress. That'll naturally be something of a focus, letting players as low as level 10 sign up to defend it, probably quoting the movie as they do so.
The level cap will bump up from 85 to 95 too, "with new skills and completely updated class specializations" according to today's announcement.
While Turbine's MMORPG is now run as free-to-play, expansions do still cost money, although the price of this one has yet to be revealed.
