World of Warcraft's Bad Robot pet a tribute to JJ Abrams

Blizzard has been having fun with the pets it has created for World of Warcraft, creating everything from floating skulls to balloons to marmots. But for the first time, the dev team is creating a pet to pay tribute to a person and company outside the game. The company announced plans for a new pet for release in an upcoming patch, out of respect for JJ Abrams' company, Bad Robot, which is releasing the Star Trek Into Darkness movie next month and the upcoming continuation of the Star Wars saga. "One of the core values we live by here at Blizzard is 'Embrace Your Inner Geek,'" the company said in a blog post. "We play countless games, we collect comics and card games, we love cutting-edge technology and computer hardware, we’re fascinated by science and discovery, and many of us are movie buffs. Movies represent the combined imaginations of talented writers and visionaries, artists and operators, editors and producers, that can culminate in an awesome cinematic experience." The little red mechanical marvel will be available to anyone with an Engineering skill. It isn't clear if it will be a "bind on pickup" item or if it will be found en masse on the auction house after the patch. There are also no details on the special abilities the tinman will have in pet battles.
