After three DLC expansions, Bethesda is done with its latest Elder Scrolls adventure, Skyrim. In a letter posted on the studio's official blog, the company says that it's time to move on to their "next major project," and that it now "requires the studio's full attention to make it our biggest and best work yet."

Although the studio says that it's "moving on," there will be "minor updates" coming to "as needed." The last patch added "Legendary" difficulty to the game. The blog adds that "we've invested so much of ourselves into Skyrim and will never truly say goodbye to it."

"We look forward to sharing our next adventure with you," the note ends. Rumor has it that they are working on a new Fallout game.

Fallout: Texas would be awesome. Wide open spaces fading to scrub and badlands, rangers, lots of guns, brahmin, and prisons.

Yes, please. I know fallout mostly deals with 50's style American culture and patriotism, but I really want to explore outside the American commonwealths and see the world from a different perspective.

So they messed up a lot of things in the last patch, including animations that they still haven't fixed, and they are just gonna say they are done? Classy

Minor updates coming as needed means no further patches or else they would've had one out already to fix the major, but simple issues, that the last patch introduced. They've had plenty of time to announce something of the sort till they said this, so yeah, no more patches.

i have to agree actually. saying "minor updates as needed" implies to me that they currently dont see a need, and therefore wont be patching it. maybe one more, at most, but id say it's dropped and done with.

Kind of disappointing, there is that HUGE underground dwarven area that literally one quest to collect a different nirnroot. It looked like there was so much time put into making that area, all the various exits that brought you to different parts of the maps via huge elevators, the hidden dragon inside that glowy orb thing, that temple area, etc.

I would love to know what they were planning for that area before it got scrapped.

that would be unfortunate. if I remember, it was lplasmatron, and he also designed little lamplight in fallout 3. another great-looking area that had very little stuff to do in it.

YES! I can totally see a space based sandbox game done by Bethesda as being fucking incredible.

It wouldn't even need to have any flying, just make it so that you hire a pilot, you buy ships and there can be random encounters as you're going from one planet to another. With their talent/budget/vision this would own on so many levels.

I...I...would pre-order the collectors if they made such a thing!

It would require a Z-axis, something they've been afraid of since Morrowind, but I agree it could be awesome, even if it didnt' include planets. You could be a space pirate or a federation boarding team lead or a hologram architect or a weapons engineer or a new encounter ambassador or anything.
