Sony's bringing the PlayStation Network down for a spot of regular maintenance on Monday, April 15. It'll be down for 12 hours across the day and evening, disabling some features, but you'll still be able to play online if you sign into PSN any time between now and then.

The North American maintenance will begin at around 8 a.m. PT and is expected to run until 8 p.m., Sony explains. During this time, users won't be able to access the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home, or account management. Sign in now so you can still play online and access apps then, and don't forget to download anything you fancy playing on Monday.

Wonder if this is the follow-up to allow them to enable remote install from the web browser store.

It's been announced to happen eventually:

          https://support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4843

Q: After I purchase content via the online store, why isn't it automatically downloaded on my PS3 and PS Vita?
A: Automatic download of games, movies and TV episodes for content purchased via the online store for PS3 and PS Vita is a feature that we are currently developing and plan to implement soon to help improve the user experience. The new online store is part of a broader initiative to revamp the entire PS Store experience and we'll be making continual enhancements throughout the year.

Also rumor is that 4.40 firmware contained the framework for this on the PS3 side. The Vita has apparently been ready for this for a while.

Custom firmware groups have apparently confirmed the code is present as well since.

Sounds like this update may very well be laying the framework on the PSN side to have it ready to go in May.

lol at that last sentence. It's good to know that I can use services that are not being maintained. I was confused but Alice showed me the light.

I've learned to underestimate you dolts and dullards at all times and act accordingly. Sometimes it even helps!
