Nintendo platforms are getting a kid-friendly exclusive from Disney Interactive, with games to accompany the upcoming movie Planes. The game will hit Wii U, Wii, 3DS, and DS on August 6, just before the film hits theaters on August 9.

The announcement promises the "thrill of flight" and an expansion of the story beyond the film. You'll play as one of the 10 available characters in the console version, or one of six in the handheld game. The announcement describes looping and racing your way through various environments, so it may be a high-flying version of a racing game akin to Disney's Cars video games. That would make sense, as this movie itself is a spin-off of the Cars franchise, which has had a few fairly well-regarded games of its own.
