The Last of Us dev diary shows ruin porn

Urban ruins are awfully popular nowadays, standing testament to the impermanence of humanity and the creative bankruptcy of people who own a camera and have watched The Wire. At least in The Last of Us the ruins we're gawping at come in the wake of a horrifying parasitic fungal outbreak. A new video dev diary from Naughty Dog delves into nature's reclamation of our cities after the apocalypse, with a look the developer calls "Wasteland Beautiful."

It's a nice look at the work process at Naughty Dog, from concept art to lighting with a hearty dose of collaboration and criticism. With lots of pretty in-game footage too.

The Last of Us comes to PlayStation 3 on June 14, preceded by a demo on May 31. Check our recent preview to see how it's shaping up (pretty dang nicely).

Has Naughty Dog split into two (or more) teams working on different games? I didn't recognize any of the developers or artists in this video (compared to the video diaries of the teams that created the previous Uncharted 1-3).

I really want to get excited to Last Of Us, but I just can't get into "zombie" games.

I've got the original L4D and can't get into it. Same thing with RDR: Undead Nightmare.

Yes. ND expanded and split into two teams after UC2. One team went on to make UC3, while other went to work on this.

Wow. I am so tempted to get this game, but it looks to be PS3 only. =(

Well, it is developed by Sony afterall. I REALLY hope they announce a PS4 version, one that has better graphics.
