Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon teaser site goes up, is hilarious

Ubisoft has unveiled a teaser site for Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, or at least a gag of a teaser site with some intriguing hints of what the real game might be.

We've heard quite a few rumblings about Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, from a rating to achievements and artwork that imply a standalone downloadable game. Today Ubisoft has taken the wraps off of it, kind of, in a way that is both baffling and hilarious.

A teaser site informs us what would happen if mid-90s web design met mid-80s neon sci-fi. The site includes a short teaser video with what appears to be a brief, fuzzy glimpse at the game, and a shop that offers roller skates, cassette tapes, posters, and a vinyl soundtrack.

Of course, it's April 1, so the vast majority of this site is almost certainly a gag. But, the leaked achievements mentioned gathering VHS tapes. That seems to imply that whatever Blood Dragon really is, it has some deep retro connections. We doubt Ubisoft is in cahoots with the Brazilian Ratings Board, so the game itself is probably still legit, even if Ubisoft's presentation of it isn't. Plus, this is the first time Ubisoft has even publicly acknowledged the game in any form, so that's something.

The "Story" section mentions the game taking place in the "future" of 2007, starring a cyborg commando named Sergeant Rex Power Colt. We can only hope that's actually the plot. As Joystiq notes, entering the Konami Code on the site turns your cursor to a crosshair, allowing you to shoot the site until only this gif is left.

Shacknews has contacted Ubisoft and will update as more information becomes available.
