For the modern tank commander on the go, Wargaming today announced World of Tanks Blitz, an iOS and Android game inspired by its wildly successful tank 'em up World of Tanks. Like that PC game, Blitz will be free-to-play. World of Tank Blitz is to bring 7v7 multiplayer tank battles to iOS and Android hand computers and pocket telephones with a spread of tank classes from the USA, Germany, and USSR. There's no firm word yet on when it'll launch, though. Wargaming.net has been spreading its tendrils far and wide lately. In January it bought F.E.A.R. 3 developer Day 1 Studios and put it to work on an unannounced console game. February saw the company pick up Gas Powered Games too, saving the troubled studio from closing. It has both World of Warplanes and World of Warships in the works for PC, and is working on a browser-based collectible card game named World of Tanks Generals. The company boasts of having 55 million World of Tanks players, though one imagines a fair number of those are inactive accounts. Look, screenshots:

One imagines Blitz won't actually simulate a tablet screen and border in-game

Interesting idea, but as with all things mobile it'll completely depend on the touch controls. A mobile version of WoW would be a cool though. Especially if you can share gold/xp/crew between desktop and mobile. Now THAT would be awesome.
