At its "Indie Arcade" event at GDC 2013, Sony revealed the first "Pub Fund" game for PlayStation 4: Blacklight Retribution. The free-to-play first-person shooter debuted on PC last year to generally favorable reviews. Like the PC version, the PS4 version of the game will also be free-to-play.

Because it's receiving money from Sony through its "Pub Fund" initiative, it means that the Unreal Engine 3-powered shooter will be a console-exclusive on PS4 for at least some time. For the move to console, developer Zombie Studios will be self-publishing the game, with rights purchased back from publisher Perfect World Entertainment.

According to a press release, the PS4 version of the game will bring "a new experience" that will will offer a "further evolution" of the game.

Isn't this the one where you "rent" your weapons for real cash?

You can also rent them with in-game earned credits. Blacklight has got a good balance going IMO even if I feel that the rental periods are a little short.

Even then it's basically worth spending $20 on a perma character with gear if you play often. The game is a solid shooter.
