Diablo 3 trailer shows PlayStation 3 port in action
by John Keefer, Mar 22, 2013 1:30pm PDTIf the screenshots for Diablo 3 on PlayStation 3 weren't enough to sate your curiosity about how well the traditional PC franchise would transition to console, then you'll want to check out the new trailer showing actual gameplay and the all-new user interface in action.
Aside from a rotary selection screen and tweaks to the way the UI is displayed during gameplay, the game still appears to be as loot crazy and frenetic as the PC version. The console version will offer four-player co-op and contain all of the updates added since it launched in May.
Additionally, The PA Report talked to lead designer Joshua Mosqueira about changes being made to the PS3 version of the game. Crucially, you'll be able to play offline, a feature missing from the PC version of the game. As a consequence, the real money auction house will be removed from the game. "There were some technical reasons we had to go with offline, but again once you have an offline experience, even if we wanted to bring in the auction house, it just becomes problematic. How do you validate? How do you make sure there is no duping or any of that stuff?"
With auction house removed from the game, it seems more likely that Diablo may end up on other consoles. "We're not necessarily a Sony exclusive," Mosqueira told the site.
