The PC version of critically-panned disasterpiece Aliens: Colonial Marines has received a hefty 3.8GB update today, promising to address many of the critical flaws noted in the game's original release. For example, the update promises to improve texture resolution and add "various visual improvements," which should make the game look more like the demos that were originally released.

AI has also been tweaked to be "more aggressive and responsive." This image went viral around the game's release, which properly summed up people's feelings about the AI. (However, Alice points out that in this specific section of the game, "it's supposed to do that.") In addition, campaign difficulty has been modified "to account for improved AI responsiveness."

While it's commendable that Sega and Gearbox have been working to address the game's many criticisms, many would argue that these are features that should have been in the game when it was originally released. Today's update is for PC, but "future updates" for Xbox 360 and PS3 promise to incorporate many of these features as well.

You can't fix this game...................... Move on people, let this game be a punishment to GearBox for the crap handling of this game.... I thought they learned from Duke Nukem but I guess they didn't learn anything.....

Duke 4 was fast paced and fun IMO. Overhype and delay was its main problems. A:CM is just plain shit.

I give Gearbox credit for trying to fix it, at least. Could have completely said screw it. Probably was enforced by Sega to push out what was originally intended or face a lawsuit.

If it's hindering sales, then the publisher makes them patch. If it's polish, the publisher pushes the developer to move on. Hard to say about this one due to the history.

Wait! Are you sure you don't want to charge us an additional $10 to band-aid and psuedo finish your broken game? I mean, that's what all the cool Publishers are doing nowadays!

it's not awful. it's just "meh"

Everyone had huge expectations for it, and its "meh" was a huge letdown.

As it is (pre patch) it's just generic shooter # 3,140,862

As it stands without the patch, it is a 20$ game. The patch might make it into a full AAA quality release, but I'm not sure unless I see how it pans out for MP.

for the sake of the devs Gearbox paid to make this POS, I hope this is the patch that fixes most of the problems the game has.
