Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, a 3DS port of the Wii revival, is apparently not coming from original studio Retro Games. A rating for the game has revealed the game is being handled by Monster Games, Inc, the studio that brought us Pilotwings Resort.
The news came from the Australian Classifications Board (via Joystiq), which defined Monster the Author. This isn't surprising for a port, but it does bring back the nagging question of what Retro Studios is up to these days. The Austin-based developer has been handed some of Nintendo's biggest properties, having updated Metroid into the 3D space with the critically-acclaimed Metroid Prime series. Knowing that the developer is free gives us some hope that we'll see whatever they have on tap sooner rather than later.
