Tomb Raider movie working from 'new take' on Lara
by Steve Watts, Mar 05, 2013 6:00pm PSTThe new Tomb Raider stars a younger, less self-assured Lara Croft. Hollywood appears to be taking that tack and running with it, as Crystal Dynamics head Darrell Gallagher said that it's working with GK Films on an adaptation that will account for the "new take" on the character.
"They are working from this new take that we've given them," Gallagher told Variety. "It's a good partnership. We're seeing the challenges through the same lens. It was important for both of us to have a cohesive version of the franchise. We didn't want to see a film version that was a continuation of the old 'Tomb Raider' films."
Crystal Dynamics is said to be working closely with GK Films on the adaptation. The studio has produced films like The Departed, Rango, and Hugo.
