EA closes BioWare San Francisco

BioWare San Francisco has been shut down. Originally known as EA2D, the mobile and social studio was known for games like Dragon Age: Legends and Mirror's Edge 2D. It was eventually brought into the BioWare umbrella in August of 2011.

GamesRadar initially cited a source who claims EA deemed mobile development "too expensive" in Redwood Shores, California. IGN subsequently confirmed the report, adding that the closure will affect nearly 30 people.

  EA is really exceptionally stupid. The take a good brand name and attach it to a bunch of unrelated studios, then furiously backpedal as the BioWare name is diluted.
