The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have had a resurgence recently with a new TV series, and you know what happens to popular children's properties: video game adaptations. True to its word, Activision announced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows today, a downloadable title coming to PC (Steam), Xbox Live Arcade, and PlayStation Network this summer.

Entertainment Weekly reports that this new TMNT game sports an arty style that's a tad different than the cartoon memories of your childhood. Instead, the turtles are rendered realistically (aka, ugly). The game will support four-player co-op as any game based on TMNT should.

That looks like the turtles from the original movie.... so that's cool, but I think at this point all things turtles are dead to me.

The new series on Nickelodeon is actually pretty great. The Micheal Bay film sounds meh though.

Is it just me or does that screen seem really muddy texture wise? I can't even look at it without wrinkling my nose.

Just give us the SNES version of Turtles in Time. It's less work for you, and we'll all be a lot happier.

It was done terribly and destroyed all that people loved about the original game. We need a true remake of Turtles in Time that doesn't desecrate what the title.

I think it actually looks closer to the original material.

To me the cartoon TMNT was the, weird, retarded deviation. Fun, yes, and it led to some great games, but it was made for little kids. Eastman & Laird's original was a lot more gritty.

This looks like it totally might be some crappy Kinect game that no one will care about.

I concur. The Arkham series-style combat would be a perfect fit for this.
