Jerry Bruckheimer Games closes shop
Jerry Bruckheimer Games, which started in 2007 as a studio to spawn game ideas and pass them along to experienced developers, is "no longer a functioning entity" according to a company representative.
Film and TV producer Jerry Bruckheimer has closed his gaming arm, which began in 2007 but never had a hand in a finished product. Called "Jerry Bruckheimer Games," the studio was intended to spawn game ideas and then pass them on to more experienced studios for development.
GameSpot reports that a representative said the game is "no longer active." When asked directly if that meant it it was merely dormant, the rep said it is "no longer a functioning entity."
As of 2011, JB Games reportedly had three games in development for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Meanwhile, the founding presidents of the studio, Jim Veevaert and Jay Cohen, have moved on to Zynga and the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, respectively. The writing has been on the wall for quite a while, especially given the lack of a product to show for the years in operation, but this makes it official.
