Ubisoft has revealed that Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag does indeed exist, releasing European pack shots for the game for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U. This confirms marketing materials and a map leaked over the last few days.

While few details are known, the pack shot shows an Assassin wielding a pistol and cutlass, with an Assassins-style pirate flag flying in the background. The PS3 box also reveals that Ubisoft will be offering an extra hour of exclusive content, in the same way it did with Assassin's Creed 3's Benedict Arnold story line.

The Examiner reports that the lead protagonist will be Connor's grandfather, Edward Kenway, a "privateer, assassin and occasional pirate." Based on the leaked map, the setting is expected to be the Caribbean around 1715.

Watch for more details on Shacknews coming March 4.

Please let it be in the same story line as the PSP version. That actress/storyline was amazing. Also having a woman protagonist in this series would be a change.

Seems like this is coming out a little soon. Was hoping the next AC title would be out on Next Gen consoles.

I'm just confused as all hell. I thought these games where not just random assassins lives.
They where connected to Desmond because they were his relatives.
I'm STILL trying to figure out how Connor is related to Desmond, let alone this guy. Which is BEFORE the events of the American Revolution and if you played part 3 what you should be doing is scratching your head to the beat of WTF!

I think it's time we can just drop that shit, it was a poor pretense for what was actually going on in the game.

What's the confusion? Desmond's relatives included Altiair, Ezio, and Connor. Remember, those three aren't all related, necessarily. It's quite possible that Connor's granddaughter married Ezio's descendent, or whatever.

Wait, didn't the last one just come out? They're already showing stuff from a new one? This is a bit too soon, imo.

A new AC game comes out every year. Different teams, of course: this new one has apparently been in production for years.
