Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception started taking cues from the free-to-play model late last year, when its 1.13 update added microtransactions and timed tournament tickets. Naughty Dog has now taken that next step, making multiplayer portion of the game fully F2P.

Naughty Dog announced that the free-to-play version will be available on the PlayStation Store later today. You can play up to level 15, at which point you can keep playing without making character progress, or pay to unlock the higher (level 25) cap. You can unlock map packs, playlists, add-ons, and even the single-player campaign. The studio promises more than 40 DLC items in the coming months.

Those who have already been playing the multiplayer will get a Naughty Dog Paw on their rank icon and a matching shirt for the custom characters. The update also adds more color options for the custom characters.
