Diablo 3 won't support PC-PlayStation play
by Alice O'Connor, Feb 26, 2013 6:00am PSTYou had surely already guessed this, being a sensible person with even a smidgen of awareness of how the video games industry works, but now it's confirmed: the PS3 and PS4 editions of Diablo 3 will not have cross-platform play with the PC original. It won't support a keyboard and mouse either, Blizzard says. Gosh, it's like it's a different game made specifically for consoles.
"While we think cross-platform play would be awesome, there are currently no plans to allow connectivity between PlayStation Network and Battle.net (this is pretty standard for most games that have PC and console support)," Blizzard community manager 'Vaeflare' replied on the D3 forums. "As a result, the characters on your Battle.net account and PlayStation account will also remain separate."
The PlayStation edition is a changed game, with features like an evade move. Throwing the two together, or adding a dodge to PC, would be weird, not to mention a huge investment of effort and money for a feature not many people will want to use.
It's being "designed with a controller in mind" on console, Vaeflare said, so don't expect support for USB mice or keyboards. Blizzard doesn't plan to carry controller support back over to PC either.
No word from Blizzard yet on when the PlayStation edition of Diablo 3 will launch.

I agree that normal and nightmare were boring. A cakewalk, basically. Inferno was a waste of time, because it was utterly unbalanced. I personally think that after the patches it has gotten quite good, because you can actually fight the mobs well now, but they can still kill you quickly, if you don't watch out. Also with the new "monster power" system you can increase the enemy health and damage they deal by up to 10 levels, if you want even more of a challenge.
Grinding has always been THE main factor of the Diablo series. I definitely agree though that it isn't as well done as in Diablo 2, because Blizzard chose to make D3 more linear so they could focus more on story and presentation. This came at a big price in terms of gameplay, however.
Regarding the loot system and auction house:
It really has gotten MUCH better. I had taken a rather long break from the game and within the first hour or two of playing again I found several new items for my chars and tons of stuff that I didn't need but I could sell off to the merchants (and some in the AH). That has netted me a considerable amount of gold. Prices in the AH have generally dropped a lot though, so if you were to go ahead and buy gear, you could get some awesome stuff for very little gold now.
It sucks you only have roughly 4 or 6 hours a week for gaming and I can imagine that spending them with grinding isn't very satisfying, but overall I think Diablo 3 is definitely worth checking out again and would recommend doing so, at least for a bit.
What I still don't get is, why you would prefer to play D3 on a console now. Is it, because you think it'll be more fun with a controller and in front of a TV or why is that? I'm pretty sure Blizzard will port the game well when it comes to controls and UI, but I don't think it would equal more fun.
Oh and, yes: having the option to play cross-platforms and import ones PC chars and all that would be great. Having options is always great, I think. But yeah, it won't happen. At least it doesn't seem so now.
