Ubisoft wants to improve relationship with PC community

Ubisoft's Stephanie Perotti says the company's recent moves into third-party distribution on the Uplay store shows a commitment to PC, as the company wants to "improve our reputation with the PC community."

Ubisoft has had a rocky history with PC gamers, but it wants to patch things up. Its about-face on the always-on DRM requirement was one sign that the company was seeking to improve, and it wasn't an isolated incident. Worldwide Uplay director Stephanie Perotti says they are actively listening to feedback from the PC community.

"Announcing all these partners for Uplay and a wider choice of PC games, it shows our commitment to PC, and we want to improve out relationship with the PC community," Perotti told MCV "We are always seeking to improve. We took a lot of that feedback on board. With every game on PC we are improving. Far Cry 3 and Assassin’s Creed 3 on PC were very high quality."

The mention of "partners" refers to Ubisoft's recent addition of third-party games to the Uplay store. Only 30 third-party titles are available in the store so far, but more are on the way in the "coming weeks and months."

Don't tie DRM to U-Play then if you're going to require it be on your games no matter where it's sold. Steam is enough DRM in and of itself thank you very much.

Getting rid of uplay or making it entirely option to sign in is the only way I'll be buying their stuff.

Uplay has improved over the years since it was first implemented.

I'd place it one notch above Origin TBH.

Origin allows you to launch games from the desktop via shortcut. UPlay does not and is therefore NOT one notch above Origin.

I have no substantive complaints about either origin or uplay (FC3 is my sole game on it)

Just stop kicking us in the teeth. Allow multiple game releases to occur without actively pushing the PC crowd away, and you can regain trust. There's no magic bullet or quick fix.

      Also: playable demos.

Honestly Ubisoft has been making pretty good PC versions lately (esp. their Montreal studio) but then they sabotage themselves with shitty bullshit on top.

Dismantle your shitty DRM, then we'll talk. I was dumb enough to buy one game with it, not again.

They need to make the Uplay launcher work with a controller. I play Assassin Creed 3 and Far Cry 3 on my TV through Steam Big Picture and it sucks always having to reach for the mouse to get past their launcher.

Say what you will about Gearbox but they're launcher for Borderlands 2 works perfectly with a controller.

Fix From Dust then. Game loads out of steam, hits uplay and then dies. Last time i checked, there was no fix. Waste of five bucks.

Well, good on them then. I look forward to seeing what they will do. Just don't go Gearbox on us with your "love letter to PC gamers" then punch us in the nuts with something like A:CM.
