Aliens: Colonial Marines mods add DirectX 10 features, lighting effects
by Steve Watts, Feb 15, 2013 9:30am PSTBy now you've almost certainly heard that Aliens: Colonial Marines is a bit of a disaster. But the PC mod scene is trying to make it slightly less of a disaster, by adding in some features and effects missing from the game proper.
PC Gamer reports that the DirectX 10 mod packs some better lighting effects and softens the shadows, while the SweetFX mod gives a sharpened texture filter, deeper color saturation, and stronger shadows. The mod scene may not fix some endemic gameplay issues cited by reviews, but at least it will look better.
