Dreamfall Chapters reveals prototype gameplay as Kickstarter goal nearly hit

Well then, an awful lot of people were certainly waiting for more of The Longest Journey. Well then, an awful lot of people were certainly waiting for more of The Longest Journey. Creator Ragnar Tørnquist's crowdfunding campaign seeking $850,000 to conclude the trilogy with Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey has passed 90% of that goal in only one week, prompting the release of some prototype gameplay footage and the revelation of stretch goals.

When it passes $900,000, as it surely will, developer Red Thread Games will commit to Mac and Linux versions on top of PC. At $950k, they'll add the Great Library of Marcuria, a librarian character, and great stacks of papers and books with oodles of lore for lorelords to pore over. The big million mark will bring more quests, characters, locations, and other jazz. Beyond that, well, we'll find out when the crowdfunding juggernaut smashes those goals.

If you'd like to pledge to the Kickstarter, at least $25 will get you a copy of the finished game, which is estimated to launch in November 2014. Paying more gets you shinier rewards, as ever.

As for the gameplay footage, well, it's a load of snippets recorded off someone's monitor. But it does look quite pretty:

They just announced that they'll do Mac and Linux versions at 900,000, which is only 50,000 more than their original goal. I don't understand why it needs to be a stretch goal when they're using Unity which already has Mac and Linux support but it's still cool that it will probably happen.

I wish they would just reveal what the 2 million stretch goal is. Right now it's just something called "The Longest Journey Home"

It's nice to see someone actually excited about their game and not just trying to sell their crappy product. He looked like he was genuinely excited to tell people and play it.
