Takedown tactical FPS picked up by 505 Games
by Alice O'Connor, Feb 15, 2013 6:45am PSTTakedown was unusual amongst crowd-funded games in that developer Serellan was looking to make a prototype, which it would then shop around to raise more money and actually make the game. Unconventional, but it's worked. Publisher 505 Games today announced that it has picked up the tactical FPS and will release it later this year under the name Takedown: Red Sabre.
Takedown was billed as the "spiritual successor" to tactical FPSs like the early Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon games, with non-linear levels and, you know, needing to actually use tactics. Development is headed by Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter design lead Christian Allen, with the team including veterans from the Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon and SOCOM series, and a smattering of other big-name FPSs.
Serellan planned PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 releases but 505 is curiously non-committal in today's announcement, saying only that it'll hit "multiple platforms." Probably not a problem.
