In spite of being nearly complete with the Wii U version of Rayman Legends, Ubisoft delayed the game from February to September--a seven month wait for gamers that are already hungry for new content. Wii U owners were even more frustrated when Ubisoft admitted that the delay was solely to accommodate the just-announced PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game.
"There are no issues with the game development," Ubisoft PR specialist Sarah Irvin admitted. "The only reason for the delay is to release on multiple platforms."
"We usually release all of our platforms simultaneously (aside from PC). We've made special exception sometimes in the past but it's definitely just on a case by case basis and not our standard practice," Irvin told Digital Spy. "In this case, Ubisoft recently decided they wanted to release the game on multiple platforms so the decision was made to launch them all at the same time rather than separately."
However, the publisher is offering something of an olive branch to disgruntled Wii U fans. "Thanks for all your feedback regarding Rayman Legends in all of its forms," Ubisoft's Facebook page says. "We understand your frustration and that you want to get your hands on the game." IGN reports that the publisher is prepping an exclusive demo for Wii U, to release "soon." But will that appease gamers that have already been playing the previous demo for weeks now?
