DICE aims to bring Frostbite to Mac
by Steve Watts, Jan 29, 2013 8:15am PSTMac gamers may be getting another small step towards PC parity, as Battlefield 3 and Frostbite 2 developer DICE has expressed an interest in bringing the engine to Apple's platform. The port would make it easier for EA to offer Mac versions of not just Battlefield, but various other titles that have started using the engine.
A job listing for a Mac OSX Engineer states the intent to port the engine in no uncertain terms, and says the company wants to "deliver an engine as great on OS X as it is on Windows and traditional console platforms." Frostbite has become the de facto standard for many EA games lately, even in non-shooters like Need for Speed: The Run and the upcoming Command & Conquer. Maybe a day will come that we'll see those games, or others like it, hitting the Mac platform.
